Two individuals have been charged following an attempted traffic stop just after midnight on March 19. Loon Lake RCMP tried to stop a vehicle on Highway 26, but it fled south and later stopped on Makwa Sahgaiehcan First Nation. Officers observed signs of impairment and arrested the 24-year-old driver. A search of the vehicle uncovered methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, two firearms, a loaded magazine, and bear mace. Both occupants face charges including fleeing police, impaired driving, and having more than 80 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood. The driver also had multiple traffic tickets and an outstanding warrant, and is scheduled to appear in Meadow Lake Provincial Court on May 7, 2026. The 23-year-old passenger faces multiple weapons and firearms-related charges, including possession for the purpose of trafficking. He is scheduled to appear in court on March 23, 2026. Loon Lake RCMP say the investigation is ongoing.
